NEET UG 2025: List of Medical Colleges in Telangana for MBBS Admission
For the NEET UG 2025 examination, the Directorate of Medical Education, Telangana, will oversee the admissions and counseling process for state medical colleges. According to the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024, only one government college, Osmania Medical College, received a rank, securing the 48th position.

As of 2021, Telangana has a total of 35 medical colleges and hospitals, consisting of 12 government and 23 private institutions, with an intake capacity of 5,240 MBBS seats and 2,237 PG seats. This data was presented in the Lok Sabha by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on December 3, 2021. Additionally, the government has established an AIIMS in Bibinagar.
Local Candidate Criteria
To be considered a local candidate, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Have studied in a school/college in the local area for four consecutive years preceding the qualifying examination.
- Have resided in the local area for four consecutive years preceding the qualifying examination.
If an applicant does not qualify as a local candidate, they may still be considered local if they have studied in Telangana for seven consecutive years before applying for NEET UG admission. In this case, their local status will be linked to the area where they studied the most or spent equal time studying. Alternatively, if they have not studied in the state but have lived in a local area for seven consecutive years, they will be regarded as local to that area.
Residency Criteria for 15% Unreserved Seats
To qualify for 15% unreserved seats, candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
1. Reside in the state for 10 years (excluding periods spent outside for education).
2. Have parent(s) who have resided in the state for 10 years (excluding employment periods spent outside).
3. Have parent(s) or a spouse employed in the state or central government, public sector, or educational institutions.
Management Quota Seats
1. Management quota seats are available to candidates nationwide who meet the relevant subject and qualifying marks criteria.
2. For non-Telangana state candidates, a “Certificate of Equivalence” from the Board of Intermediate Education, Telangana, is required and must be attached to the application.
3. For international candidates, a “Certificate of Equivalence” from the Association of Indian Universities and the Board of Intermediate Education, Telangana, is necessary.
